Our approach

Through our Innolab “living lab”, we implement an active open innovation policy aimed at driving the development of new resources and innovative services for our patients, healthcare professionals and hospitals.

We examine around one hundred innovation and collaboration projects each year. Selected projects are trialled by our front-line teams during a pilot phase and the best performers are singled out for broader deployment across the Group. Our key selection criteria are impact, solution maturity and deployment feasibility.

In 2019, we focused on improving operational efficiency at our facilities by launching two key pilot initiatives – a secure communication tool at six clinics and a traceability solution for operating theatres at two of our facilities.

We are always eager to explore new opportunities that might help us meet the needs of our patients and healthcare professionals or improve the operational efficiency of our facilities.

To round out our open innovation strategy, we’ve initiated an intrapreneurship programme to support innovative projects developed by members of our hospital teams, whether doctors, nursing staff or administrative personnel. Geared to providing the best service to patients, healthcare staff and practitioners, these collaborative projects help foster a sense of belonging among our teams.

Medical innovation

We support medical innovation by facilitating practitioners’ access to innovative medical devices and equipment and offering continuous professional development opportunities at our training centre. More than 6% of Elsan’s annual revenue is invested in cutting-edge technology, digital solutions, infrastructure and technical equipment.

We have also signed a partnership with startup studio MD Start so that Group practitioners who’ve come up with innovative ideas for medical devices can benefit from its support and potentially see their inventions become medical realities.
